YRID unveiling new website to highlight York Road and its assets
New site features a business directory, events calendar, and more.
The mission to build the image of the York Road Corridor as a unique and thriving destination for employers, residents, and visitors got a major boost this month with the unveiling of a new website for the York Road Improvement District.
“The new website we designed and built for YRID is a bold, colorful hub that celebrates the people, businesses, events, and initiatives shaping the York Road community,” said Sam Buettner and Jenny Hoffman of Ashton Design, the firm hired for the project. “It also serves as the culmination of the larger brand we developed—one that embraces the Corridor’s quirky and vibrant spirit.”
One of the key features of the new site is a business directory. “With search and filter capabilities, the robust catalog highlights over 175 businesses and organizations, making it easy for users to explore and connect with the York Road community,” Ashton said.

The new site also boasts a comprehensive calendar, highlighting the many cultural and community events that are taking place in the Corridor.
Small business owners will also find a directory of services available to them, including information about security cameras and facade improvement programs.
“This brand and website reflect the character and energy of York Road,” said Sam Storey, Executive Director of the York Road Improvement District. “Our hope is that residents, visitors, and business owners alike will see this platform as a resource to help them connect and grow.”
Ashton’s web design was part of a larger rebranding effort that included community engagement and a process to settle on a new name for the organization.
In legal documents, it is known as the York Corridor Business Improvement District, but the board decided to use York Road Improvement District as a brand name. The brand name emphasizes the role of the community as a destination rather than a thoroughfare and the importance of supporting all residents, not just businesses.
The branding initiative includes a new logo, color palette, and typography. Ashton has also created custom illustrations, printed collateral, and signage to bring the brand to life across both digital and physical spaces.
A new web address has also been introduced. The updated site can be found at www.yorkroad.org. A search engine optimization process is underway to ensure a smooth transition from the prior site.
